Forklift Seat Belt

Seat Belt for Forklift - Described in the Regulation guidelines are the application of operative restraints and seatbelts on forklifts. It states that the accountability falls on the employers' to ensure that each and every machine, piece of equipment and device is used properly utilized according to the instructions of the maker.

Rough Terrain forklifts must meet the regulations of ANSI Standard ASME B56.6-1992 regarding their fabrication, use, design, maintenance and inspection.

Side boom tractors and mobile equipment with a Rollover Protective Structure, or ROPS for short, must contain seat belts which meet the requirements of the Society of Automotive Engineers, or SAE, Standard J386 JUN93, Operator Restraint System for Off-Road Work Machines. If whatever mobile machine has seat belts required by law, the driver and subsequent passengers need to make certain they make use of the belts whenever the motor vehicle is in motion or engaged in operation since this can cause the equipment to become unstable and hence, not safe.

The seat belt requirements while working a lift truck depend on various factors. Whether the lift truck is outfitted along with a Rollover Protective Structure, the type of lift truck itself and the year the forklift was made all contribute to this determination. In the case of powered industrial forklifts, ANSI Standard ASME B56.1-1993 refers to a driver restraint device, enclosure or system. An operator restraint device, enclosure or system is designed to be able to assist the driver in lessening the possibility of entrapment of the torso and/or head between the truck and the ground in the event of a tip over. The restraint device or system may include a seat belt, even if a seat belt is not essentially a part of such machine or system.
